Sponsorship Ideas
Sponsorship is an important way for Clubs to raise money. It is important that everybody within the club, be it players, administrators or supporters, is involved in attracting sponsors.
Usually a Club will have one or two major sponsors, plus any number of minor sponsors. It is up to each individual Club to determine what criteria a business or individual needs to meet to become a major or minor sponsor, and what benefits they receive.
For example, to become a major sponsor, an individual or business may need to:
-
Donate cash amount or perform equivalent services to the Club eg. a tradesman may render the clubhouse or install new carpets, or award best on ground prizes etc.
-
In exchange, the Club may embroid their business name / logo onto their playing attire, or name a trophy after the business, advertise their company around the Clubhouse etc.
To become a minor sponsor, an individual or business may need to:
-
Donate cash amount or perform equivalent services to the Club.
-
In exchange, the Club may put their details on their website, put their name around the clubrooms etc.
Another useful way to attract new sponsors is to hold a "Sponsorship Raffle". The idea is that you sell raffle tickets to prospective sponsors and then draw out the winning ticket. The winner is deemed the Major sponsor and gets their business name / logo embroided on the playing attire, and the rest of the businesses are deemed minor sponsors, to be rewarded how the Club sees fit. You can have more than one major sponsor if you wish.
